What is employment law?

Employment law governs virtually every aspect of the relationship between employers and employees. Workplace conduct, wage and pay rates, hiring, firing, promotions, and benefits are just a few examples of what employment law regulates. In addition to outlining what is and is not legal in an employer-employee relationship, employment law also provides for enforcement by various government agencies (such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) and through private legal channels.
