A former employee at a Beaumont BASF facility has now filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against supervisors for allegedly failing to respond to claims of a hostile work environment.

According to court documents, the lawsuit was filed last week against the BASF Corp. and states that the former employee was discriminated against and denied opportunities because of his race.

The lawsuit claims that black employees were taunted with nooses and a written policy prohibiting this had to be written up. The employee filed complaints with management, but even though coworkers were written up for doing this, they were allowed to remain working on their shifts. This eventually lead to the plaintiff losing his job.

Officials with the Katy Independent School District have backed the leaders at Golbow Elementary and denied claims that they created a hostile work environment and harassed employees.

The officials with the school district have announced that the claims made lack any merit. Six people, including teachers and former educators, asked the school board members to investigate claims that school officials were involved in coercing resignations, alienating parents and ignoring complaints.

The school board was told that the administration is creating a “unhealthy and psychologically damaging work and learning environment.”
